Bearizona is approximately 160 acres in size and is conveniently located in the heart of Northern Arizona nestled amongst the beautiful Kaibab National Forest. Williams is considered the gateway to the Grand Canyon. Williams’ central location allows visitors to stay and experience Northern Arizona’s beautiful sights and activities. Bearizona is one hour south of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim, 30 minutes west of Flagstaff, and three hours southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Visitors will drive through (that is right - you and your family/passengers will be driving YOUR CAR) on more than three miles of road in the Ponderosa Pine Forest viewing North American animals in their natural habitats. There are a number of "lands" all identified by signs telling you what type of animal(s) live in that section. These animals are running around without restriction - meaning, they can come right up to your car and look in your window! They advertise that for those who visit the park on motorcycles, the park does have cars available for folks to use for the 3-mile drive.
Trust me - I do not think anyone in their right mind would ever consider riding a motorcycle in an area where bears and wolves are walking on the same rode they would be traveling!!! You can see just how close we came to some of these animals. If I had a yard stick, I could have touched the back of one of the brown bears! Spooky!!
In the video section (below the pictures) are some videos that show you the bears are running around unrestrained. If one decided to do something crazy, we could only hit the gas pedal and get out of there! None of the animals, however, seemed to show any interest in the cars that were driving through their habitat. They just went along minding their own business which in some cases was sleeping!
More animals are exhibited in Fort Bearizona, a beautiful 20 acre walk-thru area, along winding paths in what can be described as more of a "zoo" type setting. There is a gift shop (actually pretty good size) in the park. There is a raptor show (these are birds of prey - not prehistoric animals!) that we watched. It was very entertaining!
Below are some pictures and videos we took of the park and the various "lands." If you are going to visit the Grand Canyon, definitely - you will want to visit this wildlife park!
